In a battle that came down to the very end, the Hubbard boys swimmers needed a victory in the final event, 400 yard freestyle relay, to knock off a strong Mentor team. Cruising to an easy win in the 400 free, the boys improved their record to 4-3 on the year.
First place finishes included; Chris Klug (200 free, 500 free), Brandon Nutter (100 free, 100 back), as well as the 400 free relay team (Klug, Zack Flynn, Joey Svirbely, Nutter).
Up against probably the deepest team they have faced all year, the girls continued to turn in one strong showing after another. Leading the girls team, as she has done all year, Lacie Daley took first in the 100 breast. Along with a solid performance by Rachael Kerr, the girls continue to improve as the season winds down.

The car was built from the ground up and is now ready to race. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO.

Dedication, hard work and a dream is what this was in the beginning, almost three years ago in February. This car was built from the ground up by Jeff Melnick Jr. and his dad also named Jeff Melnick. It finally came together this past September when the car was ready to race. Jeff got to test run the car at Quaker City Raceway in Salem. He did a great job on the cars first appearance finishing 9.6 at 140 mile per hour with very little throttle.
The car has a lot of potential, powered by HRE Hine Racing Equipment of Kinsman.
Jeff is eagerly awaiting the opening season to race his Pro Mod Chasis 2002 Dodge Avenger which is NHRA certified to go six seconds or slower in the fourth mile track.
The car is currently on display at Summit Race Equipment in Tallmadge, it has been there since Dec. 22 and will stay there until Jan. 24 and then be shipped to Canton where it will be displayed at the Canton Hot Rod and Custom Bike Show Friday, Jan. 25-Sunday, Jan. 27. Good luck to Jeff.
