Disney Journals By Victoria Serrano (Freshman)
Sunday afternoon: Today was instrument packing day. We were told to meet at the school in order to make sure our instruments and uniforms were all packed onto Bon 1. It was a mess because it was cold and we were standing outside holding our uniforms with the wind and snow whipping around us. After about an hour, we finally got all the uniforms and instruments onto the truck so it could start its trip to Florida. Monday afternoon: Today was the day we would start our long trip to Florida. After starting to pack our luggage around 4 o'clock, we had to wait for everyone to get here to the school. About an hour later we were able to load the buses and were off to fight through the storm that made itself known as a late Christmas present. We would make stops every 2-3 hours so we could eat and use the restroom facilities available. Little did we know just how long we would be on the buses. Tuesday Night: We finally arrived in Florida four hours late after being on the buses for a whole 24 hours. It was absolute torture to be on the same bus, with the same people for an entire day. When we arrived we no longer had time to rehearse or else we would be late for the Cirque du Soleil show. So we had to rush to get our stuff in our rooms, maybe take a quick shower, use the restroom, and practically run to get to the buses to make it to the show with time to eat. When I got to downtown Disney, I ate with a few of my friends a Wolfgang Puck's Café and paid 11 dollars for a side salad. I think that's crazy but that's just me. Afterwards, we explored for awhile then went to the show. And it was the best show I have ever seen! I definitely recommend seeing it. But it did make me fell really insignificant after seeing nine year olds do all those flips and stuff. We got a kick out of it later but it was cool. Wednesday: This was the day we went to Animal Kingdom and Epcot center. In Animal Kingdom we took a million pictures outside the tree of life then the fun began. Still in the Animal Kingdom, I rode a dinosaur type ride. It was cool but when we rode and underground roller coaster that was definitely the best ride in Dinoland. We went zipping through the underground and dinosaurs would jump out at us and scare us to death. It was crazy but nothing compared to Mount Everest. Now that is a roller coaster that is worth the wait. That ride takes you forwards, backwards, around sharp bends and dips that will leave you breathless at the end. We also saw "It's a Tough Bugs' Life," which was a show/movie type thing. It was in 3-D so it was pretty cool. After Animal Kingdom, we went to Epcot Center and spent the rest of the day there. We rode Space Mountain which is a roller coaster for those who don't like anything too fast and twisty. The best part was getting able to visit the world showcase which had Japan, China, Germany, United Kingdom, Mexico and a few others. You get to eat all the different foods and the people that work there are actually from and speak that country's language which was really cool. And the fireworks show was something I will never forget. Thursday: This was the day we spent 17 hours in the Magic Kingdom. It was brutal but we stuck it out. What was good was that we had time to wait in line for all the rides so we didn't have to worry about that. I rode Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain which were really awesome rides. It was also the day we performed in a parade. It was an experience like no other. The amount of people standing and cheering was the most overwhelming thing I ever had to do. But it was worth it because we put on one heck of a show. After that I just wandered around the park and saw too many parades to count. The new years fireworks were really awesome so that was a plus. It was a late night that day so I got to the hotel and just crashed almost immediately. Friday: Today we packed our entire luggage loaded it onto the buses and spent most of the morning and afternoon in Hollywood Studios. There I road an Aerosmith roller coaster that was the coolest one I'd ridden about four times. After I was done with that, I rode the Tower of Terror twice which is enough for anyone sane. That is the scariest ride I ever rode in my life. After that I wandered through all of the shops there and saw plenty of cool things. The Fantasmic show was something to be remembered as well. Sure it was freezing outside, but it was the coolest thing. After that show we left Florida in hopes of getting home around one o'clock on Saturday. It didn't quite work out that way, but we finally made it and were greeted by a huge amount of snow that was not the best welcome home present. But we made it and that was all we cared about. So we finally made it back home which was a relief to actually be able to sleep in a bed. It was a trip no one will ever forget because of all the crazy but cool things that we were able to experience in Disney.
