Hubbard Lady Eagles
After two and a half weeks off of play, the Hubbard ninth grade Lady Eagles finally stepped on the hardwood to being their journey in the MAC-TAC Tournament. Hubbard received the second seed and earned a buy in the first round. After the tournament was pushed back a week due to snow and school cancellations, the Lady Eagles were ready to play the Lady Quakers of Salem. Salem is a very tough, strong, and competitive basketball team. Hubbard was fully aware of their capabilities and ready to play. A strong first quarter on both ends of the basketball gave Hubbard an early 14-5 lead. Emily Skebo and Allie DeLuco provided an excellent defensive effort in the early going of the game. The Lady Eagles solid play continued in the second quarter to give them a 20-9 lead at the half. Emily Granger sparked the Lady Eagles off the bench by dropping in 6 points of her own. A third quarter scare by Salem found the Lady Eagles only up 30-23 after three quarters of play. A very high intense and competitive fourth quarter had all the fans cheering loud at Hubbard High. Free-throw shooting was the key as Hubbard was able to hold off for a 39-35 victory. Allie DeLuco led all scorers with 11 points. Krista Julian dropped in 8 and Jillian Hinkle added 6.
