Roosevelt Elementary showed they have heart

The students of Roosevelt Elm. School began a three week program during February to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's  Pennies for Patients. They set out with a school goal of $3500 in front of them.
During their three week program these children basically had school ten days out of fifteen due to scheduled days off and inclement weather. This however did not stop the children in their quest to reach their goal. They successfully raised $4008.03 this year in an effort to help find a cure for the leading the cause of cancer among school age children.
There was healthy competition created throughout the school by offering incentives for  the class collecting the most pennies, the classes collecting the highest money totals in each grade and for the class who collected the most money overall, to name a few. The classroom raising the most money was to be the lucky recipient of a Pasta party Luncheon form the Olive Garden. To make things more interesting, Mr. Soloman, Principal and Mrs. Fette, Vice-Principal also graciously agreed to dress up like chefs at the Pasta Party if the school successfully reached their goal.
As part of their continued character building experiences at Roosevelt, the students of Mrs. Sherry's Class honored the Hubbard City and Township Police Department, the Dispatchers and School Crossing Guards for their dedicated service to the schools and the community by serving them with the Olive Garden Lunch at Roosevelt on March 20. These children enjoyed a wonderful lunch with our local honorees and a celebration of their achievement.
Many thanks to the administration, faculty, staff, Roosevelt  School Parents Association and the students themselves for making this program such a success. Congratulations!
