Hubbard Planning and Zoning meeting
The Hubbard Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, in Council Chambers at the Hubbard Municipal Building. The following item will be on the agenda: 1. To consider a request for a Variance to construct a 28' wide x 24' deep (672 sq. ft.) accessory building (detached private garage) approximately 2' from the north side property line, rather than the required 5' setback, on property located at 228 Viola Avenue, Lot #1705; and to discuss, only, any other relative, residual business that may come before the Board. All interested parties are urged to attend.

Garden Mart 2008
The Fellows Riverside Gardens, Tyler Classroom, will be holding the 2008 Garden Mart Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m-5 p.m. There will be hanging baskets, twice loved plants, annuals, herbs, house plants, summer bulbs, and much more. The event is sponsored by The Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area, Inc. and its members. This event will help to benefit the Scholarship Fund.

Villa Maria Art Retreat Mandalas and Prayer
Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1, beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Villa Maria Education and Spirituality will offer Art and Retreat: Mandalas and Prayer. Presenter, Paulette Kirschensteiner, HM will explore art as a resource for listening to God's presence within us. Paulette Kirschensteiner, HM is a nationally exhibited artist with an MA in Fiber Arts and is certified in the technique of Drawing on the Right side of the Brain. The weekend will teach how to create mandalas out of a variety of materials and use them as a resource for deepening our relationship with God. No prior art experience is necessary. The program will be held at on the grounds of Villa Maria Community Center. Register by May 8, and program cost is $260 which includes overnight accommodations, materials and meals. Register between May 9 and 22, and pay $270 for overnight and $180 as a commuter. Program costs include course materials. Advanced registration is required.

Coast Guard Eastern Great Lakes Water Safety Expo
The U.S. Coast Guard Station Ashtabula will be hosting the first annual Eastern Great Lakes Water Safety Expo Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the USCG Station Ashtabula, 401 Morton Dr. in Ashtabula. This free event is open to the general public and will feature tours of the Coast Guard Station as well as free U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary recreational vessel safety inspections. Come join the Coast Guard and observe the hard working men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard in action. Hubbard Conservation Club
The Hubbard Conservation Club will be holding it's annual "Kids Fishing Derby" on Saturday May 10th from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine. Participation is free and is open to all local children, ages 15 and under. A free lunch will be provided, and prizes will be awarded. All children are REQUIRED to be accompanied by an adult, and may bring their own fishing pole and tackle. A limited number of fishing poles are available. A refundable deposit is required for all borrowed poles. Children must supply their own bait. A limited amount of bait will be for available to purchase on a first come first serve basis. The club grounds are located at 1760 Wick Campbell Rd in Hubbard Township. Don't let your kid be the one that got away.
