Cadet Michael Allen Stanish, a 2007 graduate of Brookfield High School, took part in the annual Plebe-Parent Weekend at the U.S. Military Academy from Oct. 12-14.
Parent Rhonda Stanish, sister Heather Stanish and grandparents Larry and Valerie Peters of Vienna, visited her cadet for the event. The relatives and friends of plebes are invited to West Point for the weekend to tour the grounds, and meet the staff and faculty members and learn first hand about the regiment followed by the academy's newest cadets.
Stanish, one of more than 1,000 plebes at West Point, plans to graduate in 2011 and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Friday, Nov. 9, Roosevelt students and staff celebrated Veteran's Day. The students were able to invite someone from their family that is a veteran. The Fine Arts Committee put together a wonderful program to honor Veterans for their service and commitment to the country. The students sang songs and poems were read. After the assembly, the students and their veterans were treated to cookies, coffee, and punch. They would like to send a thank you out to all those in attendance, as well as those that could not be there.
Also, Donuts with Dad started on Monday, Nov. 12 and will go through Friday, Nov. 16. The students are given the opportunity to sign up to bring dad, grandpa, uncle, etc. to have donuts, juice, and coffee in the morning.

Cub Scout Pack 100 would like to thank Nemenz IGA and Devine's Shop and Save for allowing the pack to have a can good drive at their stores.  Without the help of the community this service project would not be possible. The pack was very pleased with the amount of non-perishable food items and cash donations collected. Thank you to everyone who donated.
They would also like to thank the Cub Scouts and the families that participated at this event. When we all work together we can accomplish great things. Thank you.
