A Swiss Steak Dinner and Concert will be held Saturday, March 15, 4-6:30 p.m. at the Girard First Christian Church, 140 East Broadway. The cost of the dinner is adults $7.50 and children under 12 for $3.50. with carry-outs available. The proceeds of the dinner go to the Christian Church. Tickets will be sold at the door or can be purchased prior to the event by calling the church. Congratulations to Girard High School student Clayton Cupan for placing second in the State of Ohio for the Bowling Team. His consistent high scores help to achieve this honor. Practice, skill, and dedication to the sport are essential to his success. Best wishes for future achievement in the sport of bowling. Top Hat Productions is presenting "The Earth Trembled, " a play Friday, March 14, Sat. March 15, Sunday, March 16, Good Friday, March 21, and Sat., March 22 all performances at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Make reservations by calling 330-755-6412. Harry and Evelyn Bundy, long time Girard residents, will be celebrating their 64 Wedding Anniversary this week on Tuesday, March 3. Congratulations and may you enjoy many more happy years together. Olga Hoier celebrated her birthday on February 27th and Leona Rossell celebrated hers on February 22. Happy Birthday and may the year ahead be filled with joy. Sympathy is extended to the family of Nancy Walters. Nancy volunteered many hours especially at the Girard High Sports events during the time daughter Dana and son Mark were at GHS. She always had a smile and helped whenever possible to support the teams in which her children participated as well as many other projects at the schools and in the community. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends in the Girard community. Daughter Dana is now a teacher at Prospect Elementary School teaching second grade. Cards may be sent to their home or to the school. St. Rose Home and School Easter Bunny Pancake Breakfast will be held Sunday, March 9, in St. Rose School Cafeteria from 8 a.m.-12 :30 p.m. Adults are $4.50 and children are $2.50. Crafts for the Kids, Basket Raffles, and Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be available. The K of C Ladies met Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in the K of C Hall for a regular meeting with Ruth Brine heading the welcoming committee of Theresa Cortell, Virginia David, Rose Ragan, and Maria Pimpinella.

Nominations and election of Officers will be held at the April meeting. The annual Mother-Family Banquet honoring Mothers will be held in May. Homemade Easter Bread at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon is being sold. Orders are now being taken for the 2 pound loaves of homemade Easter bread, plain or iced. The cost is $8 per loaf. Call 330-538- 3351. Deadline for orders is Friday, March 14, with pick-up during Holy Week on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Good Friday by noon. Easter Baskets for the Emmanuel Community Care Center are being planned. The Center will be distributing Easter Baskets to children ages 2 years through 11 years whose families are registered at the center and who live in the Girard area. Sign-up for anyone wishing to receive an Easter Basket is until March 12. Easter Baskets are to be picked up at the Emmanuel Community Care Center Wednesday, March 19 between 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Any individual or organization who wishes to donate an Easter Basket or candy or small toys to make up an Easter Basket should contact the Center at 330-545-4301. Completed Easter Baskets and any items for the baskets should be delivered to the Center by Friday, March 14. Anyone in need of Wheel Chair Ramps should call Betty at 330-759-7255. Two outdoor handicap wheel chair ramps free of charge are available. Contact St. Rose Church Rectory for more information. Sympathy is extended to the family of Joe Collard, a longtime member of the K of C family and the Girard Community. He leaves a legacy of many family members who have given and continue to give service to this community. His presence here will be missed. Cards may be sent to the family or in care of the K of C Hall on State Street. The Girard First Methodist Youth Club Musical will be presented Sunday, March 9, at the 10:45 a.m. worship service and again in the evening at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The inspirational musical is entitled "Acorns to Oaks: Planted, Rooted, and Growing in Christ" referring to all youth. Admission is free but the group is asking everyone attending to bring a canned good or other non-perishable food item to donate to the Emmanuel Community Care Center. The Methodist Asbury Sunday School Class will have a Pancake Breakfast March 9 in Fellowship Hall immediately following the Youth Club Musical. Pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea, orange juice, and milk will be the menu for a cost of $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-12, and children under 3 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the door. The Lydia Circle will hold a meeting Monday, March l0, at 12:30 p.m. at the church. The Hannah Circle will hold their meeting in Fellowship Hall March 10 at 7 p.m. to make palm crosses.
