The Girard City School District will host a public forum Wednesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. to provide information about the new Junior-Senior High School and the stadium renovations. The forum will be held in the high school auditorium. School officials and architects from Then Design will provide renderings of the new school building, discuss plans for stadium renovations, and answer questions from the public. The Board of Education and administrative staff have been working diligently to prepare for the new school building. The Project Team has been meeting at least monthly since June planning for the project. The community approved a bond levy in May of 2007 to complete both the school and stadium projects. The state, through the Ohio School Facilities Commission, is funding 80% of the junior-senior high school portion of the project. The site for the building is on Shannon Road. Site clearing at the location for the new school is tentatively scheduled for March. Phase 1 renovations at the stadium, which will include a new turf field and drainage system, a new eight-lane all-weather track, new field lights, and a new parking lot on the south side of the stadium, are tentatively set to begin by April 7 and will be completed by the beginning of the fall sports season.
