NAAS wins YSU Tournament

The weekend of February 23rd YSU held a 5v5 soccer torment in which girls and boys from the local high school and club teams participated. Niles Area All star Soccer team entered two teams in both the U-14 and U-17 brackets. In the U-14 games both teams won their respective brackets to face off against each other in the finals. With team 4 wining 3-1.
NAAS team 3 was coached by Carmen Cicero, Justin Miller (Niles) CJ Cicero(Niles)Denny Shoemaker(Niles)Keir MacMillan(Niles)Shane Fairburn (Niles) Caleb Beeler(Niles) Tim Kemner(Hubbard).
NAAS team 4 was coached by Jeff Crowley and Mike Arvin , Connor Gilmor(Howland)Connor Sherin(Howland)JT Ferrior(Niles) Dean Kirsch(Niles) Matt Black(Lakeview)Shawn Crowley(Niles) Noah Arvin(Niles)Jet (Niles)
In the older U-17 games NAAS teams 1&2 also were successful to win there brackets. With team 2 playing Elite Legion (from Cleavland)losing 0-1 taking 3rd place. NAAS team1 meet Elite Legion in the final game with NAAS victorious winning 5-0. It was an intense game with goalie JJ Crowley having a remarkable day by stopping every attempted goal for a NAAS shut out.

NAAS is a local travel Club that has grown to have players from Niles ,Howland, Hubbard, Liberty, Lordstown,and Lakeview. Both teams have had success in many of the tournaments they have played in the past. The U-14 team is coached by Scott MacMillan and Carmen Ciecero, the U-16 team is coached by Scott MacMillan and Gregg Miller.

Church Children's Fair

Church Hill United Methodist Church will hold it's annual Children's Fair Saturday, March 8 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
There will be many fun games including Animal Toss, Fish Pond, Lollipop Tree, Dart Game, Cake Walk, Sand Art and many more.
You may also buy lunch at a very reasonable price. The lunch menu includes pizza, hot dogs, potato chips, cookies and a beverage.
The Children's Fair is open to everyone in the community and is a wholesome, safe event that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Tickets are 25 cents each and can be purchased at the fair. Most games can be played for 1 ticket and a few for 2 tickets.

Ladies of Mount Carmel monthly meeting

The Ladies of Mount Carmel of St. Rose Church will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. in Rosetta Hall.
Hostesses for the evening are Mary Zirafi, Angie DePillo, Jo Cordy, Pat Cordy, Stephanie Bettura and Vicky DePizzo.

St. Patty's Day  Derby:
A Night at the Races

There will be a Night at the Races sponsored by the Girard City Survivors Friday, March 14. Doors open at 7 p.m. with Post time starting at 7:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the American Legion hall in Girard, 11 High St. SE. Admission is $5 and will be paid at the door. The event is also B.Y.O.B. but they will provide food, draft beer and mixes. All proceeds benefit the Relay for Life. Warren Civic Chorus help

The Warren Civic Chorus needs a few members that would enjoy demonstrating their leadership qualities by serving as an officer on the "Messiah" Board of Directors for the 2009 season.
