Children's Programs and Special Events: April 13-19: "National Library Week"-Celebrate this week with us and join in the festivities.  April 14: "Theatre To-Go"-6:30 p.m. Liberty High School's Traveling Theatre performs during our family time hour. April 17: "Name Bracelets"-4:30 p.m. Create your own personalized bracelet. YOU MUST REGISTER BY April 14.  Ages 12-18 can participate.  Supplies will be provided.  Refreshments too. April 19: "Alice in Wonderland"-1 p.m. Oakland Center for the Performing Arts presents this timeless classic  FOR ALL AGES! April 26: "Make a Bird Feeder"-10 a.m.-Bring your own plastic two-liter pop bottle. This family-oriented program is FOR ALL AGES, and will be presented by the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THIS PROGRAM.  Call today or come in and sign up at our circulation desk.! 
Adult Programs and Special Events: April 2: "Book Discussion Group" 6:30 p.m.-This month's title is:  Silent Spring  by Rachel Carson.  To join, contact facilitators Colleen Keller at ext. 22 or Norma Savany at ext. 11. April 14: "Water Color Painting" 6 p.m. Let your artistic side shine through with this first of its kind program. Celesta Moran will be here to instruct you on how to paint with water color pencils.  For ages 14 and up.  YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THIS PROGRAM.  Refreshments too. April 16: "What's New in Technology" 6:30 p.m.-Shawn Walsh from NEO-RLS (North Eastern Ohio Regional Library System) will be on hand for this informative program.  You will learn more about new computer devices and software, etc.  Sondra Fisher hosts and can answer your questions in more depth--just give her a call at ext. 20. April 20: "PA & Ohio Canals" 2 p.m.-Wendell Lauth, retired educator and school superintendent, will present a program about the canals, which ran through Girard behind the old Ohio Leatherworks building.  All are welcome to this colorful history of a long-forgotten waterway. Lauth is an active lecturer and author of several books.

The Alzheimer Assistance and Referral Network Calendar

The Alzheimer Assistance and Referral Network host free neighborhood Support Groups, providing an opportunity for caregivers to share with and learn from others going through the same difficult experience.

Coffee House and Concert

His Music Connection invites you to this Saturday night's Coffee House at the Old Wellman Theater in Girard, located at 29 West Liberty St. The groups performing this Saturday, March 29, from 6 to 10 pm, are 24 Flames of Akron, and A New Creation of Dayton. These Contemporary bands perform outstanding original music and cover songs. His Music Connection has picked up the tab for this concert. Girard Multi-Generational Center adult prom

The Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., is hosting their 2nd Annual Adult/Senior Prom, "The Best of Times" will beheld on Thursday, April 17 from 6-9 p.m.  The event will feature D.J. Cosmo playing music form the 1940's. Tickets are $20 a person and $35 a couple. Seating is limited, call for your reservations soon at 330-545-6596.

Niles City open enrollment

The Niles City School District is accepting open enrollment applications for the 2008-09 school year. If you would like you child/children to attend Niles City School District through open enrollment, please call the Administration Office at 33-652-2509 to schedule an appointment to complete the application forms.
Students from any school district in Ohio are eligible to apply. Enrollment is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis according to available openings in each grade. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance or denial to Niles City School District.

Renovating Excellence meeting

The next meeting of Renovating Excellence in Niles will be this Sunday, March 30, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Niles High School cafeteria.
