2 Timothy 3:5-- Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Religion is rich in tradition, but poverty-stricken where love, joy and peace are concerned! Tradition forms a religious rut. Ruts are easy to follow, but you can only go where others have gone. What if God wants to do a new work in your life? If you're stuck in a rut, you'll miss it. Tradition holds on to the past. It resists change. But the path that leads to spiritual maturity, and to happiness demands change. When Jesus healed the man with the withered hand on the Sabbath, the enraged Pharisees approached Him, fists clenched, teeth grinding, screaming, "We have a tradition! You can't heal on the Sabbath!" In their religiosity, they were prepared to let the man remain crippled just to preserve their tradition. Jesus said, "Why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?" (Matt. 15:3). Tradition stunts spiritual growth. It destroys the adventure of faith. It squashes the fresh move of the Holy Spirit. It produces immature saints who become diaper dictators with pabulum personalities. The legalism of religion is intolerant of those who don't fit our form. Our attitudes of intolerance are manifested in sustained stares of caustic comments. Such religious reactions will destroy churches faster than a five-alarm fire. Paul rebuked the Galatians thoroughly for deserting Christ (Gal. 1:6), for setting aside the grace of God (2:21) and for becoming bewitched by legalism (3:1).

The Review Newspapers is in its fifteenth year. It's hard to believe it has been providing positive, local community news for this long. There have been many changes and improvements along the way. We printed the papers with our own press until late 2006. At that time we hired a professional outside printer. Our color became very clear and in register (that means you can actually see the picture and the color) and also the black print became very clear. Last year, we went to three zones as we continued to serve Trumbull and Mahoning Counties as well as the Greater Shenango Valley. This has been our target area since the birth of The Review Newspapers, as I believe this area is the heart of the Mahoning Valley. When The Review Newspapers premiered in October of 1995, most of the local community papers had left town, gone out of business or started charging per edition. The Review Newspapers believes that you should not pay for community news, it should be FREE, just like news on the TV or radio. The Review Newspapers was one of the first, if not the first, local publication to put its newspaper on the web. Our paper has been online at TheReviewNewspapers.com since 1997, where we archive copies online going back one year. Many people now simply go online to read The Review Newspapers. This is to the advertisers benefit, because the readers still see their ad both online and in print. This is important because advertisers provide the resources required to publish the paper. A good local community newspaper cares about its readers as well as small businesses, and is a vital part in the community. As we began in 1995, the internet was just starting and computers were becoming more common. This changed the world; Google News, Yahoo News, I-Phones and various web sites are now bringing major news stories to a global audience. This has caused others to duplicate our local business objective, yet The Review Newspapers continues to be the leader in community news. Some newspapers are still delivered to every home. This sounds great, but at a time when all are concerned about our environment, this may not be the GREEN thing to do. Now at a time when newspapers across this great land of ours are filing bankruptcy and closing at an alarming rate, The Review Newspapers will continue to lead the way in taking your reading experience to a new level. Keep watching, great changes are on the horizon. John Kroner, Publisher

Has God Really Forgiven Me? A few days ago a young woman came to me troubled over something she had done. She was right to be troubled over it too; it could have ruined her life and the lives of several others. She had asked God to forgive her, but she was still consumed by grief over her sin. She wanted to know, has God really forgiven me? Here are a few things I told her. First, this may be a good sign of your relationship with God. Paul tells us about some who fall away from the faith, whose conscience is now insensitive because of their continued sin (1 Timothy 4:2). They are so callused by sin that they do not care anymore. I am glad to see you still care about what God thinks. Besides, by asking such a question you may be starting to grasp the seriousness of sin. Sin is a big deal. Murder is a sin, but all sin kills. Theft is one sin, but all sin steals. Sin destroys peace in this life and the next. But if God has forgiven me why do I still feel so bad? It's important for you to understand that forgiveness is not annulment. When God forgives our sins He removes the eternal punishment for sin; "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). But there may still be a mess. Finally, God is true to His word. God said through the apostle John, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). I am having a hard time believing this. I want to, but it's hard. That may be, but Christians must "walk by faith and not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). This means we must conduct our lives by what God has said and not by what seems apparent. God said that He would forgive and God does not lie (Hebrews 6:18). If you still need more proof God provided that proof in Jesus. Jesus came to forgive sins. God allowed Jesus to die on the cross so you could be forgiven. What greater evidence could God give of his sincerity?
