Ongoing Activities for the public at the library
Art at the Library! Try it!  Painting classes are available at the Kinsman Free Public Library on Tuesdays from 2 - 4:00 pm.  Watercolor and Acrylic painting styles are offered.  Try a class and let your creative side out.
All skill levels are welcome! Class fee is $5.00 per class and registration is encouraged.  First time to class?  Instructor Charlotte Moore will have supplies for the first class and provide material list for future classes.  Ages 16 years and up please.  Register by calling the library at 330-876-2461.
Get a little loopy at the Kinsman Free Public Library with the Hook and Loop Group.  Knit and crochet minded individuals meet the first and third Monday of each month from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.  Bring your project and work along with others in a friendly environment.  Get and give advice, exchange patterns, and have a wonderful time.  This is not a class, no registration is necessary, and beginners are welcome!  If arriving before 5:00 pm use the main entrance, after 5:00 pm use the first door on the east side, second level (follow the sidewalk & ring the bell).
Did you know Kinsman Library has a loopy group for children too?  Kid's Knit meets the second Thursday of the month from 5 - 6:00 pm.  Ages 8 -18 are welcome for this beginner class.  Experienced knitters help kids learn the basics of knitting with small projects designed just for them.
BRING: a pair of knitting needles size 8 or 9 and a skein of inexpensive worsted weight yarn.  Registration is required.  Call the Children's Dept at 330-876-2461.  New for 2010 - we're participating in "Warm up America."  As kid's learn to knit and perfect their skills, they will be helping others.  The 7x9 inch sections they create are donated to Pat Catan's where volunteers assemble the sections into afghans and distribute to local charitable organizations.  For more info visit www.warmupamerica.org.
Preschool story time is back at the Kinsman Library!  The new 6-week session starts February 1st.  Story time is held on Mondays at 11:00 am.
Ages 3-6 years are welcome accompanied by an adult.  Join us for 30 minutes of theme based stories, songs, and a simple craft designed to encourage literacy in your child. No registration is necessary.  Although our story times are targeted for pre-readers, we realize that children of all ages attend as a family. All are welcome, but it is also acceptable for parents to explore the library with their younger or older children while story time is in progress. Children often enjoy a special time just for them.  A cancellation may occur due to forces outside the library's control.  If you are traveling, especially in the winter, please call ahead to verify.
The KFPL Book Discussion group will meet at 6:00 pm on the third Thursday of the Month.  February's selection is "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving. Join us for lively discussion and share your views.  No need to register, and you may bring your own book or request a copy from the library (allow 2 weeks or more for requests). Stop by the circulation desk for more info.
Shake the winter blues with Tai-Chi classes at the Kinsman Free Public Library.  Let your energy flow every Monday at 1:00 pm or 5:00 pm.  Class size is limited, so you must pre-register.  Ages 10 years - Adult are welcome and Fees are $6.00 per class/ $25.00 6-weeks.  Originally developed in China as a form of self-defense, Tai-Chi is a graceful form of exercise that has existed for some 2,000 years.  Practiced regularly, Ta-Chi can help you reduce stress, and improve balance, flexibility, strength, coordination, and more.  Class may be done sitting or standing.
