The Mary Chesney Chapter national Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented "Forgotten Patriots-Afican American Indians Patriots of the Revolutionary War: A guide to Service, Sources, and studies" to James Wilkins, Director ar Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, Main Branch. The book is a geneaogical resource for African American and American Indian descendents who are searching for an ancestor who may have served or assisted in the Revolutionary War. The Resource book lists 6,600 patriots and covers the period beginning with April 19, 1775, the Battles of Lexington and Concord through November 26, 1783, the evacuation of the British from New York City. This book was twenty-five years in the making. It is for individuals who may be either curious or serious about tracing their heritage. It describes what was going on in each state and lists contributors to the war effort from that state. The book will be placed in the history genealogy reference room in the library. The library staff stated the donation of the book was very timely since February is African American Month. The Mary Chesney Chapter hopes members of the community will utilize the book and find its contents stimulating to conduct further research about their family members.
