Kindergarten Registration Dates

Warren City School District will hold its Kindergarten Registration for the 2008-09 school year from
10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on the following dates:

April 2,  Lincoln K-8 School
April 3,  Jefferson Site
April 8,  Devon Site
April 9,  ACOP (located on Niles Road, SE)
Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2008, in order to enter kindergarten. Parents who wish to have their child enter under 5 years as of Sept. 30, 2008, should call 330-841-2236, ext. 276, for early testing.
Parents are advised to bring the following items for a complete registration: Your CHILD
(for vision and hearing tests). Updated Shot Records: Includes five doses of DPT, four doses of TOPV (Polio), three doses of Hepatitis B, two doses of MMR, and one dose of Varicella (Chicken Pox). The State of Ohio requires these shots before entering kindergarten. Birth Certificate. Social Security Card. Custody Papers (if applicable).Proof of Residency (living) in Warren City School District: Please bring at least one of the following as proof: utility bill with top and bottom portion intact; current income tax form; bill of sale; rental agreement; home insurance form; or notarized statement from landlord.
Parents are also encouraged to register their child for Jump Start at this time. Jump Start is a free summer program offered by Warren City Schools to help ease the transition from home/preschool into kindergarten, familiarize students with routines, provide children with early experiences in reading, writing and math and assist parents with home literacy experiences. The program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, July 21 to August 14. Transportation will be provided. Ladies Day for SS. Mary and Joseph School

SS. Mary and Joseph School is hosting a Ladies Day Sunday, April 6 from noon-6 p.m. at the Avalon Inn in Warren.
This will be a wonderful day for women to enjoy a relaxing and entertaining afternoon out.
The day's events include shopping with over 20 unique businesses, a spring fashion show, luncheon and entertainment by Christian Comedienne Teresa Roberts Logan.
Teresa has appeared on A&E, HBO, and was featured on the Christian Comedy Tour 'Thou Shalt Laugh."
Our honored guest again this year will be Senator Capri Cafaro.
Tickets are $35 and include all events listed as well as entry into all prize drawings. There is advance ticket sales only as there will be limited seating. Tickets must be purchased by March 30. Doors will open at
11:45 a.m.

Free Tax Assistance at the Bristol Public Library

Tax counselors with the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program will be at the Bristol Public Library every Monday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This service will be provided on a first come, first serve basis through April 7, 2008. Please note that no appointments are taken. Individuals must be at the library by 12:30 p.m.
The TCE program, sponsored by AARP, provides free assistance to individuals who cannot afford professional tax assistance, senior citizens, the disabled, and others having special needs. In order for proper assistance to be given, please bring the following items with you: the current year's tax forms and preparation booklet, a copy of last year's income tax return and supporting documentation, W-2 and
W-2p forms from each employer if you earned a salary, unemployment compensation statements, SSA-1099 form if you paid Social Security benefits, all 1099 forms showing interest and/or dividends and original purchase price of sold assets, 1099R form from the payer of your pension or annuity, all forms indicating federal income tax paid, child care provider information (name, employer, ID, Social Security number), all receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions, Social Security numbers for all dependents, and identification.
Also available at the Bristol Public Library are tax forms and publications for the general public. Less common forms are in reproducible format or may be printed from the Internet. Champion High School to perform classic on April 12

The Champion High School drama department announces their production of, "The Wizard of Oz" which will be staged on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  Tickets will be sold at the door for $7 adults and $4 students.  The following students are working hard to transport audiences to the magical land of Oz:

Bristol Public Library
Holiday Closing

The Bristol Public Library will be closed Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 in observance of the Easter holiday.  The library will resume regular business hours on Monday, March 24 at 8 a.m.

The Mary Chesney Chapter meeting on March 15

The Mary Chesney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on March 15. Saturday at 1 p.m. for their annual DAR Good Citizens Awards to Trumbull County High School Seniors. The Awards meeting will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Warren.
Lois Brown will make the presentations for the wining essays on good citizenship. Hostesses for the meeting  are Co-Chairman Patricia Webb and Ruth W. Miller. Serving on the committee are Martha J. Crum, Martha B. Hake, Marlene D. Martin, Marlene Sue Martin, Carol K. Noga, Mary Alice P. Riley, Mary P. Rockman, Wanda W. Sass, and Mildred W. Welty. The next meeting will be on May 2 on Friday at 1 p.m. Members will be called.

Happy Wanderers meeting

Happy Wanderers will meet Friday, March 28 at noon, at the Corner House Christian Church, Hubbard, OH. Everyone is asked to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided. The program will be provided by the Rescue Mission Choir and the history of the mission will be given.
Serving as hospitality is Irene DeStasio, Jim & Ethelene Williams, and Bob Jailet. Greeters will be Joan Aeppli, Joyce Hillier, Wilma Quinn.
Everyone who is able is asked to bring paper products for the mission.
Those whose last names begin with A-L are asked to bring a pie. Pictures will be taken for the new pictorial directory that is being prepared.
Departure for the Carousel for "The King and I" on March 19 is at 10:30 a.m. (tickets are available). The group will also sponsor tours on April 15 to Cleveland for "Some Enchanted Evening-Pop Goes the Classics"; May 12 Buffalo and Niagara Falls Tour; June 18th Short Mystery Tour, July 25 and 26 to Lancaster for "In the Beginning" and "Abraham and Sarah."
