The Army of the Lord

A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside.
The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"
My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"
He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

Christ Episcopal Church to view movie: "For the Bible Tells Me So"

Is the love between two people an abomination? Is the chasm separating gays and lesbians and Christianity too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate?
Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families -- including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson -- we discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child. Informed by such respected voices as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard's Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and Reverend Jimmy Creech, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.
Join us as we view this film and discuss the question: Is the love between two people an abomination? We don't promise to provide the answer, but we do promise to keep an open and prayerful mind as we discuss the question. Discussion to be lead by The Rev. Donna L. Maree, Rector of Christ Church and Brent E. Whetstone, Congregation Ministries Coordinator of Christ Church.
If you would like to see this question brought into light in a biblical perspective, we ask that you come on April 27, at 3 p.m. We will provide light refreshments. This event is free and open to the public.
For additional information, please contact Brent E. Whetstone, Congregation Ministries Coordinator of Christ Episcopal Church, at 330-372-4998 (ext. 106) or at

The difference you'll make
is striking

On May 3, Junior Achievement will hold its annual Bowl-A-Thon at Camelot Lanes. The event will be from 4-7 p.m. Companies form five-person teams with each bowler collecting a minimum of $40 in pledges. Bowlers don't have to be from the same company, and don't have to be regular (or even good) bowlers.
Incentive prizes are offered for individuals raising $50, $100, and $200. Thanks to the efforts of this year's participants, we hope to raise more than $45,000.
The JA Bowl-A-Thon is a great opportunity for particpants to support Junior Achievement while enjoying a great eventing of bowling, food and prizes.
