YSU Dance Ensemble
annual spring concert

The YSU Dance Ensemble will present its annual spring concert May 1, 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. in Bliss Hall's Ford Theater.
Under the direction of Christine Cobb, faculty member in the department of Theater and Dance, 16 YSU students will be featured in 12 distinct dances. Genres of modern, tap, hip hop and Irish step dance will be included. Both student and faculty choreography will be featured.
The YSU Dance Ensemble, a sanctioned student organization sponsored in part by Student Government, accepts members via an audition process in the fall term. Members practice weekly and hone their performance skills as well as their leadership skills. Cobb noted, "The young women who audition and are accepted into the YSU Dance Ensemble put countless hours into practicing their discipline. They also learn the basics of running a student organization since they must elect officers and participate in activities. The spring concert is the culmination of their year-long efforts."
Tickets are $3 for YSU students, seniors, and children under 12; $5 for YSU faculty and staff, and $7.00 for the general public. More information may be obtained by calling 330-941-3105. Tickets will only be available at the door and are not sold in advance.

Travel Photography

Packing your camera for vacation? Don't be disappointed when you return! In the new six-week, credit-free online course, "Travel Photography for the Digital Photographer," travelers will gain the knowledge they need to capture their adventures in pictures, bringing their memories home to share with family and friends.
"I can't imagine traveling without a camera," says Dr. Beverly Schulz, author of the course. "The world is a fascinating canvas for digital photographers--and there's always more to see."   Designed for those with basic photographic knowledge and a love of travel, the course will dig into tricks and techniques to give students the ability to take pictures that have a professional look, even in the most difficult situations and in the most exotic locales.
Students will learn what digital equipment to take or to leave behind as they venture into the wilderness, onto a cruise ship, up in a helicopter, or over an international border.   And since freezing temperatures and searing tropical heat often reside in some of the most beautiful places in the world, students will gain practical solutions for protecting their equipment from environmental problems.  "We'll focus on specific tips for digital photographers and how to use both traditional techniques as well as those unique to digital equipment," says Schulz.
The course includes a classroom that is open day and night. Students can interact with the instructor and their fellow students in Web-based discussion areas where they can ask as many course-related questions as they'd like. A response is usually promised within one business day, and often arrives much sooner than that.
Students can take "Travel Photography for the Digital Photographer" from the convenience of their home or office, and at any time of the day or night.
