Howland Community Church preschool registration
Howland Community Church Cooperative Preschool is registering children for the 2008 - 2209 school year. The Preschool is located at 198 Niles Cortland Rd SE in Warren. Classes for 3 and 4 year old children are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:15-11:30 a.m. or 12:45-3 p.m. To enroll, children must be at least three years old by September 30 and potty trained. A Pre-kindergarten class is available for children who will be 5 years old and are not planning on entering kindergarten in September. The class is held Monday through Thursday from 12:45-3 p.m. The Preschool offers a safe and creative environment that fosters the growth and development of young children working and playing together. We offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum stressing beginner reading and math skills, as well as basic science concepts while building a sense of confidence and self-esteem. Our program also includes classes in music, creative movement, library and educational field trips. Classes for Gymsterdance and Kindermusik are also available at an extra cost. Our Preschool has been nurturing the young child with a quality program since 1969. Your child will be taught and cared for by professionally trained teachers. United Methodist Church receives grant
The United Methodist Community Center has received a generous contribution from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, in the amount of $5,000. The funding will support the continued operation of the Family Fitness Program, a program that addresses the growing problems of obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes in children, youth and their families. Book Discussion group to meet May 8
The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library book discussion group will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 in the Board Room at the Main Library, 444 Mahoning Avenue NW in Warren. Reference Librarian Nathan Dempsey will lead a discussion of "Winter of the World" by Carol Ann Lee. The book describes the aftermath of World War I, when childhood friends Alex Dyer and Ted Eden struggle to come to terms with their darkest memories and with a haunting betrayal, as Alex deals with his feelings of guilt for not serving on the front lines and for his illicit feelings for Ted's wife, Clare. Kinsman Historical Society meeting May 6
The Kinsman Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. at he Kinsman Presbyterian Church. The speaker will be Doris Livingston from Jameston, Pa. On the subject of Hymn writer James McGranahan, everyone is welcome to attend.

TNT Scholarships By Roselyn Gadd
Trumbull New Theatre is distributing scholarship applications. Since 1975 TNT has annually awarded several scholarships , ranging $250-$500 per award to high school seniors or full-time college students. TNT is looking for individuals who demonstrate a love of theatre and will participate in community theatre after graduation. The single greatest requirement for these scholarships is a love of theatre. Applications are available from guidance counselors and advisors. Anyone with questions can call 330-856-2129.

First Annual Pets in the Park
On Sunday May 4 from 1-4 p.m. at Austintown Township park there will be the first annual Pets in the Park. Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County will be on hand to microchip your pets fro just $10. $5 donation is appreciated with proceeds to benefit the Animal Welfare League.
