Two Powers
After Napoleon was deserted by his own armies and imprisoned on the island of St. Helena, he once wrote the following impressive words in a letter to a friend: "There are in the world two powers-the sword and the spirit. The spirit has always vanquished the sword." Perhaps at this point in his life, Napoleon knew well the futility of earthly success and the shifting sands of power that is merely temporal. Truly, it is the spirit; the Holy Spirit, that can vanquish not only "the sword", but all enemies and every foe that seeks to destroy us. The scripture says: "This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the LORD of hosts." Zechariah 4:6. Because of this truth, you and I can now personally proclaim these three promises: · It is not our might that will defeat our fears · It is not our own power that will overcome our problems · It is only through the anointing of the Holy Spirit that we can become more than conquerors through every circumstance and situation that challenges us in life. Let's be reasonable. In the past you have tried your best, yet things still look impossible. The odds appear to be stacked against you. When will you come to realize that your own personal resources have only gotten you further into the debt and illusion of self-sufficiency? Now, take courage! There's no greater opportunity than the present to look up to the Lord! Why not surrender your heart and life to the One who loves you so desperately? He will forgive you. He will wash you whiter than snow. Not only will He provide for you, but the Lord will even make a way…where there seems to be none! Beloved, rest assured that whatever you are facing today is no match for the impenetrable power of God's love! Be blessed. Be free. -pdc Dan Cesene is a motivational writer and speaker with a heart to bless and encourage others. He is available to speak to your group. Resurrection Day
Reprinted with permission from © John Hagee Ministries 2008 P.O. Box 1400 San Antonio Texas 78295-1400 P: (210) 494-3900 support@jhm.org Matthew 28:6-7-- "He is not here; for His is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him…" Job 19:25-27-- For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. Easter is a strange time. While some are busy with festivities celebrating eggs and bunnies, others are rejoicing over the promise of Jesus' empty tomb. Go figure! However strange this seems, our Christian celebration of the Resurrection is so inextricably bound to the pagan celebration of Easter that even the King James translators once used the word "Easter" in reference to Passover, which is all encompassing of what we celebrate at Easter-- The Triumph of the Cross: Because Jesus triumphed on the Cross: 1. The plan of salvation that began in Genesis 3 was finished. Genesis 3 tells us that the "Seed" of the woman, being Jesus, shall crush the head of the serpent (v. 15). I am saved because of the blood of Jesus, not for good works or by human merit. John writes. "You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood" (Rev. 5:9). When the Prince of Glory shouted, "It is finished!" (John 19:30), I became royalty, and so did you. We were adopted into the family of God. The royal blood of heaven is flowing in your veins. You have the power and the authority of Jesus' name as ambassadors of the living God. Act like it, seek like it, and talk like it in Jesus' name. 2. Whenever you pray in the authority of Jesus' name, demons tremble in absolute fear. "And they overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony" (Rev. 12:11). Satan is totally defeated forever. He is a lion, but he has been destroyed, by the Lion of the tribe of Judah, at the Cross. When I whisper the name of Jesus, every demon in the area shakes with catatonic fear because Christ is Lord indeed! 3. You have everlasting life. If there was no other message to the gospel than this one, it would make this message the most exciting message in all of human history. Someday you will hear that John Hagee is dead. Don't you believe it. I'll be dancing and shouting on the hills of glory, alive and well with my disease-free body. I can't wait to see what I will look like. Saved by the blood of Christ. (Life Plan Study Bible, The Triumph of the Cross p. 576)
