Annual golf classic June 6
Who said, "it never rains on the golf course", even in the rain Warren Junior Women's League/GFWC is busy getting ready for their annual Golf Classic June 6, at Candywood Golf Course. This year it will be a four man scramble. The major benefactor will be Trumbull County Children Services Board. The day's events will include breakfast at 7:30, 18 holes of golf/car (Scramble-shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m.), hot dogs and beverages on the course and dinner, donated by Up A Creek Tavern and Grill of Howland. Toyota Volvo and Jaguar of Warren will donate a car for the first hole-in-one on the 14th hole. The cost is $50 per person; hole sponsor is $100 per hole. Members of the Mary Chesney Chapter of the NSDAR attended State Conference in Columbus. The attendees were Carol Olson, Carol Noga, and one new member Nancy Mayfield. Workshops included DAR Computer Literacy in the 21st Century and one on Genealogy. State winners were recognized for the various patriotic and historic contests. Mary Chesney Chapter received recognition for contacting more than 10 schools about the contests. One of the keynote speakers was Robert Heft, a retire high school and college teacher and the designer of the 50 star flag. He designed the flag for a high school History project. He has become known as "America's Modern Day Betsy Ross". He is the only individual permitted to sign the American flag. The next meeting of the Mary Chesney Chapter of the NSDAR will be a picnic and Guest Day on June 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Warren. Garden Mart 2008
The Fellows Riverside Gardens, Tyler Classroom, will be holding the 2008 Garden Mart Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m-5 p.m. There will be hanging baskets, twice loved plants, annuals, herbs, house plants, summer bulbs, and much more. The event is sponsored by The Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area, Inc. and its members. This event will help to benefit the Scholarship Fund.

Polynesian Review and Luncheon
Travel Bugs of Howland are hosting a Hawaiian show and luncheon. The motor coach will leave Howland SCOPE Thursday, May 15 at 9 a.m. for Carrie Cerino's Banquet Center in North Royalton. Featured in the Aloha Review will be the haunting rhythm of Tahitian drums, primitive Samoan fire dancers, Hawaiian hulas, dances of Tonga and all the songs and music from the Polynesian Islands. Lunch included will be served at 11:30 a.m. with the show commencing at 1 p.m. Arrival home will be around 3:30 p.m. the cost of the outing is $70 per person paid upon registration.
