Words cannot only hurt you, words can kill you!
Proverbs 18:21--Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
It was a fool who said, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."
Notice the extremities in Proverbs 18:21: Life and death…nothing in between. Nothing neutral comes out of your mouth. Life or death.
You have to eat your words, too. The fact is, those who love the fruit of the tongue will eat it. That means you cannot sow wild oats and then pray for crop failure. By God's command you will reap what you sow. That's God's law. If you plant bitterness, you're going to reap bitterness. If you plant criticism, that's what you'll reap. If you are a talebearer, you yourself will be the object of tale-bearing all the days of your life. Those who gossip to you will also gossip about you.
My father said the reason a dog is man's best friend is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue!

"A Day of Unity"

When: Monday October 5, 2009
Time:  7:00 p.m.
Where: Trumbull County Courthouse Square, Warren OH
Host:  Someplace Safe, Inc.
Someplace Safe, Inc. will celebrate its annual Unity Day observance.  We recognize this day as a means of demonstrating remembrance and respect for the victims of domestic violence as well as celebrating the survivors.  In addition, we re-affirm the commitment of community members who work within the fields of service such as:
Law Enforcement
Judicial/Legal members
Medical/EMS/Health Care professionals
Mental Health & Social Service professionals
Educational professionals
Clergy members
Unity Day is celebrated in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month because October marks the month of national observance.  Across the nation, it's traditional for communities to gather on the first Monday in October to participate in candlelight ceremonies to remember those who have experienced domestic violence, lost their lives because of domestic violence, or have survived domestic violence.
This year's theme will be "Intervention."  The evening's guest speaker will be Judge Thomas Gysegem, of Domestic Violence Court of Warren Municipal Courthouse. A powerful representation of victims will be displayed and a new theme song will be celebrated.
Community members are invited to participate in the events of Unity Day and contribute to honoring victims, survivors, and dedicated professionals who choose to serve our community in the various service fields touched by the effects of domestic violence.
If you would like to volunteer to assist in Unity Day preparations or for more information, please contact Someplace Safe, Inc. at 330-393-3003.
