The Choffin Clinton
Connection

Joe Strangis, Culinary Arts Instructor at Choffin Career & Technical Center and longtime Chef at Crystal's Catering was a member of the culinary team that cooked for former President Bill Clinton! Chef Strangis helped to plan, prepare, and serve the guests for the Hillary Clinton fundraising event.  The team prepared and array of appetizers, salads, baby lamb chops and homemade cheesecakes and double chocolate torts. Strangis was especially thrilled that President Clinton selected his lamb chops for his doggie bag! Chef Strangis shared his experience with the Culinary students and told them, "keep trying you never know who you will be serving in life"!
When Chef Strangis took over the Culinary Arts program at Choffin 15 years ago it was a part time program with 8 students, now it is one of the largest programs that Choffin has to offer! Several graduates have gone on to Culinary Institutes and are holding positions in the Youngstown area and beyond. If you are interested in enrolling in Choffin's half-day high school Culinary program, please call 330-744-8700 or visit us on the web at
