Youngstown ABLE Program Graduates 150!
The Youngstown Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) program will hold our annual ABLE Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 6:30 pm. The ceremony will be held at Chaney High School, 731 South Hazelwood Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44509. We will be honoring GED graduates and ESOL success from 16 sites in Youngstown, Ohio. There are 150 GED graduates for the 2008-2009 year! The guest speaker will be Madonna Chism-Pinkard.

Williams to
perform with Community
Concert Band

The Honorable Jay Williams, Mayor of the City of Youngstown, has been slated to accompany the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band's performance on Wednesday, June 24 at Morley Pavilion in Mill Creek Park.
Mayor Williams will provide the narration to a musical selection entitled, "Gettysburg."

Austintown Friends of the Library gets a visit from former president

Bev Sharnek , Abe Lincoln and Doug Wilcox prepare for the Austintown Friends of the Library program. The next in a series of historical impersonators will be a meet and greet of John Hancock, famous for signing the Declaration of Independence. The Friends of the Austintown Library will meet on Monday , June 15 at 10 AM in the Community Room of the Library. The public is invited to join the Friends as they greet John Hancock , impersonated by William Johnson. His speech, focuses on a Boston establishment that served as a hub for Patriots and Redcoats.

Caring for Our Community
The WKBN 27 Caring for Our Community campaign is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County to make a difference in our valley.
Volunteers with the Caring for Our Community campaign from Huntington Bank, Victory Christian Center, Window World, YSU, The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley and 27 First News will work together to assist the building of a Habitat for Humanity house in Youngstown.
Members for these organizations have dedicated time on Saturday, June 13 and will be working all day alongside Habitat workers to help complete on of the housing projects that are ongoing within the city of Youngstown.
