Bounce A-Round Rentals and Indoor Party Center celebrated the official opening of its new 20,000 square foot indoor open play area, with a ribbon cutting, followed by a full weekend of activities and special guests. The new indoor play center was filled to capacity as guests enjoyed autographs with the Mahoning Valley Phantoms, visits from YSU's Pete and Penny and Scrappy from the Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball club, and hourly prize giveaways. Bounce-A-Round owner Linda Gilkinson was overwhelmed by the response from the community, "we have never seen so many people come through our doors. Not only are people booking birthday parties several months in advance, but several people have inquired about our franchise opportunities, simply from seeing the success of this opening." Bounce-A-Round has planned community activities throughout the spring, including participation in the Mahoning Valley St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday March 16th and a giant Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 22nd. For more information on upcoming events at Bounce-A-Round contact 330-726-5781 or visit the website at www.bouncearoundrentals.com.

Michael Katsidis, the unbeaten Australian lightweight boxer, hopes to become the class of the lightweight division as Youngstown's champion Kelly Pavlik has done in the middleweight champion by beating WBC lightweight champ Joel Casamoyer on Saturday, March 22 in Las Vegas. The WBO interim lightweight champ, Katsidis along with Pavlik were named the most "exciting fighters" of 2007 and both were also involved in "Fights of the Year," Pavlik in his first battle against Jermain Taylor and Katsidis in his thrilling wins over Czar Amonsot and Graham Earl. The fight will be staged before a huge crowd at the Morongo Casino Resort and Spa in Vegas and will be televised over HBO's Boxing After Dark at 10:05 p.m. The fight is being promoted by Oscar de La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. Master boxer Casamoyer, who defected from Cuba, has a 39-3 record with 21 knockouts. At age 36, he is still in great shape, and De La Hoya expects a "classic battle" between the two. Katsidis, who is 25, has a record of 23-0 with 20 KO's. Casamoyor is a battle-tested veteran who has a lot of fight left in him and a few veteran boxing tricks to boot. "I've been on top for a long time, and I'm not about to leave anytime soon," he said. "Katsidis is a good fighter, and he'll probably be on top of this division someday, but this is my time and I'm no about to lose to him on March 22." Boxing's latest action hero, Katsidis who is of Greek descent, is compared to Arturo Gatti, who fought his heart out in every fight, He caught the eyes of boxing fans with his thrilling five-round knockout of Earl a year ago in February to win his WBO title. This March 22, he says he plans to begin his world-class legacy by defeating Casamoyer. "It's an honor to fight a great champion like Casamoyer, and I'm looking forward to testing my skills with him," Katsidis said. "I plan on putting on another exciting fight for the fans, and I believe my pressure, power and will carry me on to victory on March 22."

Brian Governor (left), chairman of Boardman Rotary's 25th annual "Pancakes at the (Boardman) Park," and his co-chairman, Anthony Daprile, are getting ready for what they hope will be a record-breaking event on Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30 and also on April 5-6. It is hoped that more than 3,500 will enjoy those fluffy pancakes as prepared by Ted Thornton and his "experienced" kitchen. The breakfast will also include orange juice and coffee or milk….and there are seconds in pancakes available for the "the hungry ones." This whole yummy breakfast costs only $6 for adults and $3 for youngsters under 5. Get your tickets from any Boardman Rotarian or at the door. Photo by Mike Varveris.
