"I've got the power to beat Kelly Pavlik!"
So says 31-year-old Gary "The Rocket" Locket from Wales, who is Kelly Pavlik's first challenger for the WBO middleweight title. The two will meet on June 7 at Atlantic City in a 12-round bout to be carried live by HBO -TV.
Locket has a record of 30-1 with 21 KO's. All but one of his fights have been staged throughout the United Kingdom mostly in Wales. The only bout outside the United Kingdom was in Italy in 2005. His only loss was in 2002.
Locket, who stands, 5-10, earned the fight by being rated the No.1 challenger by WBO.  He is not rated by the WBC, the other championship belt Kelly owns, but is regarded the champion by the lightly regarded WBU.
Eighteen of Locket's 21 knockouts have come inside three rounds, and his handlers say he has a punch "to be very afraid of."
"I train in a gym full of world champions, and I'm happy to be given this shot in the big time against Kelly Pavlik and establish myself as a world star," the Welshman said.
"Kelly is a fantastic fighter, but I've got the power to beat anyone," he added.
Locket is scheduled to meet an unnamed opponent in a tune-up fight in Cardiff, Wales tomorrow night, March 22.
While he is regarded as an explosive puncher, most observers feel Locket has no speed as well as the power to defeat the 6-2 Kelly who is favored to win by an early KO.
One thing for sure….Kelly will not take this guy lightly and will train like he's fighting Jermain Taylor for the third time.

Gottberg receives Arrowman Youth of the Year award

Chad Gottberg recently received the Order of the Arrow's, Wapashui Lodge, Arrowman Youth of the Year Award at its annual winter banquet. Chad has been active within the Order of the Arrow for many years and has acted as it's Communication Executive during that period. Young Mr. Gottberg is a member of Troop 101 in Struthers where he maintains an equally active role as it's ASPL and Scribe. Chad is currently also working towards his Eagle rank and hopes to have that finished by this summer.
Chad's father, Dale Gottberg, is also a member of the Troop and, just like his son, is a big asset to the Troop carrying on many duties helping to make Troop 101 one of thee best Boy Scout Troops in the area.
Congratulations to Chad on this outstanding accomplishment.
