Shannon Tirone, president of Boardman Rotary Club, presented a check in the amount of $75,000 to members of the Boardman Park Board at their March 18 meeting that will go towards the renovation of the park's Community Center.
On hand to receive a huge copy of the check were Park Commissioners Dr. Robert Johnson and Denise Gorski as well as Dan Slagle, the park's executive director/clerk. Mark Luke, the third commissioner was unable to attend.
Tirone said the $75,000 Rotary donation "will ensure that Boardman Park is able to provide local families a unique recreational haven in the midst of a busy commercial district."
The $800,000 renovation of the Community Center is one of several projects of the Park's $2.1 million capital campaign.
Denise Gorski, chairwoman of the Park Board thanked Boardman Rotary for its substantial gift and said the club's members "are wonderful supporters of our community. They care deeply for the community and work

tirelessly to support numerous community projects and organizations, thereby enhancing the quality life throughout our community."
Boardman Rotary has been an active supporter of Boardman Park during  its 53  years of existence. In addition to this gift believed to be the largest amount given at one time to one organization, the club contributed to the relocation of St. James Meeting House which was moved to the Park in 1972.
The club was also responsible for the construction of the Gazebo near the Park's  Route 224 entrance and also gave towards the building of Kid's Town Playground and also provided assistance when the Maag Theater was built.
Club members have been meeting every Tuesday at the present Community Center. Construction is expected begin sometime this spring.
